Believe it or not, it is estimated that there are well over 1,000 castles throughout the beautiful green countryside of Ireland. Sadly, many of these castles stand abandoned and in ruins. When I was in Ireland our guide would point out this castle and that castle and many times, it would be just a ruin since the Irish cherish their castles. However, some of these castles have been restored and opened up to the public for exploration or even lodging. If you wish to discover some of these stunning Medieval structures, here are some of the ones that take pride in welcoming visitors from all over the world.
