Christmas Travel Holiday Traditions
We all have our special holiday traditions, but as my kids get older, the memories are becoming more important than all of the “stuff” we give as gifts at the holidays. Many clients and their families are opting for the gift of travel over the holidays. Depending on the size of your family, how close your family is and how far they live from you, taking a trip during this time may or may not be well received. The best option is to get the entire family involved. Here are my thoughts for some fun holiday travel traditions.
One of my favorite places in the United States to go is Montana. There is a unique resort there about 90 miles south of Missoula in the town of Darby. This resort is Triple Creek Ranch. Years ago I stumbled upon this resort when I was looking online, and the link stated “Mountain Hideaway with Hot Tubs.” Well, I clicked on it, and I couldn’t believe it was in a town named after me. So I check out their site at www.triplecreekranch.com, and I was hooked.
What does it take to plan the perfect vacation for an entire family? I had the pleasure as a Travel Specialist to help several clients plan lifelong dream vacations. One client in particular wanted her and her husband to take a vacation with all three of their children and two grandchildren. To quote her daughter, this is where the idea began: “Our family planned to take a celebration trip for years, but where? Each time I talked to my Mom, she told me about her current virtual vacation. In her mind and through others’ suggestions, she traveled to Provence, Maine and the western part of the US. I thought we’d never come to a decision. The weekend my Mom ’traveled’ to Italy, my Dad got invited to go there and made the final decision for us. ’Italy?’ I said mentally checking my bucket list and confirming that, ‘No, Italy was not on the list. Italy…’.
