For many people, being able to spend time out in the wilderness and observing amazing animals in their natural habitat is a dream vacation. I know for me going on an African Safari has been a lifelong dream. In part one of this exciting two-part series, we are going to look at some of the best countries in the world that you can visit to turn that dream vacation into a reality!
Botswana

If you are looking for somewhere which blends luxury accommodation with up close and personal animal safari, Botswana is an excellent choice. This country offers superior safari experiences in a more personal way as it has what is known as ‘low-density tourism.’ By maintaining a smaller number of safari camps, each location has exclusive rights to many acres of natural wilderness, which allows tourists greater freedom of movement.

Due to lower density tourism, Botswana can grant its visitors greater luxury with comfortable and private accommodations. Private acreage gives opportunities for boating activities, off-road safari, and night drives to spot exciting wildlife!

Tanzania

Considered by many to be the ultimate safari location, Tanzania offers tourists the opportunity to see both chimpanzees and big game animals, often accompanied by private guides and vehicles for groups. Home of many famous landmarks, such as Zanzibar and Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania has an estimated 4 million wild animals, 2 million of which participate in the great migration through the Serengeti.

Many of the best camps in Tanzania are mobile, allowing tourists to move with the migration as it makes its way across the country, creating an unmissable and genuinely personal safari experience of waking up on the Serengeti.

Zambia

Less luxurious than some of the other countries on this list, the safari experiences available in Zambia have a more rustic charm to them, encouraging tourists to develop a more vibrant connection to the wilderness. This country is full of smaller, independent operations rather than the more commercial, largercamps found with other safari locations.

Zambia is home to some of the most knowledgeable safari guides on the planet, which are held to extremely high standards. They are well-versed in a range of activities, including the very popular walking safaris that allow guests a very personal experience with some truly magnificent creatures.

Kenya

Kenya arguably is the best country for seeing big cats, and also big game overall. The diverse culture of this country is welcoming and encourages tourists to participate in a wide range of safari activities, such as walking tours, biking, and horseback riding, among others.
Safaris in Kenya are best suited to those who desire to do more than participate in game drives; more active travelers are given the opportunity to get close to nature while observing some of the more rare and unusual animals, such as Grevy’s Zebras and African Wild Dogs.
